FAQ

How will the success that matters event impact my men?

All too often, men gather for a big, exciting event, only to return to real life the next day with no next step in their discipleship journey. While our desire is to help you create momentum among your men through an event, we also want to show you how to capture that momentum through follow-up small groups, which are an integral part of Success That Matters.

As men get into the Word of God and into authentic friendships, lasting growth begins to take place—in their lives and in your ministry!

How long is the event?

Success That Matters is approximately six hours long, including discussion and break times. Churches usually do the event on a Friday night and Saturday morning or all day on Saturday. It can also be adapted for a weekend retreat. Click here to see a sample itinerary.

What is the content?

Success That Matters is made up of four sessions: 1) Finding the Purpose of Your Life, 2) Finding Respect and Honor at Home, 3) Finding a New Best Friend in Your Wife, and 4) Finding a Deeper Relationship with God. Each teaching session is followed by interactive discussion time.

It is designed to help men find a deeper level of meaning and purpose. As men explore true significance, based on scripture, they will be challenged to examine their role as spiritual leader of their family, love and honor their wife, and prioritize their time wisely. Most importantly, they’ll be encouraged to pursue a deeper relationship with God and others. Success that truly matters is success that is based not on cultural norms but on the transforming truth of the gospel.

Who presents the event?

We’ve made Success That Matters available in what we call the “You-Teach-It” format, where we equip your church to present the material live to your men. We provide an event transcript, presentation outlines, PowerPoint templates, and videos to help you prepare. You may also choose to show the videos in place of a live speaker, if you prefer.

Can we do this event virtually due to social distancing restrictions?

Yes! If needed, you may deliver this event as a webinar—either through live teaching or using the videos. It is possible for your men to participate in this event using a program such as ZOOM that includes a breakout-group function for the discussion time after each teaching session. By assigning attendees to breakout groups, they will be with the same men each session. Then following the event, you could give men the opportunity to continue meeting for six weeks using the follow-up workbook, either on ZOOM or face-to-face.

Will men have an opportunity to hear the central message of the gospel?

Success That Matters includes a clear presentation of the gospel, and on average, a third of attendees indicate they’ve surrendered or re-surrendered to Jesus Christ.

Will it help us get men into small groups?

On average, churches that do a Man in the Mirror event see more than two-thirds of attendees join follow-up groups BEFORE they leave the event, resulting in ongoing discipleship. We’ll show you exactly how to do this, using a simple strategy!

What is the small-group curriculum?

Included with the event is the Success That Matters “Life Plan”—a workbook for a small group of men to use over six weeks. Designed to appeal to the man who has never been in a small group, as well as mature believers, it requires just 30-60 minutes of time per week in between group meetings. Discussion topics include the “rat race,” work, money, marriage, fathering, priorities, accountability, spiritual disciplines, and more.

How far in advance should I schedule our event?

Your team should reserve an absolute minimum of two months to plan and promote your event effectively. Three to four months is recommended.

How much does it cost?

The event costs $499.99 and is delivered to you digitally with downloadable components. It is designed to “break even” financially for your church, and we provide a worksheet to help you determine your ticket price.

What do we receive?

Once you’ve purchased the event, you will have access to all the downloadable materials you’ll need to be successful, including detailed planning tools, promotional templates, videos, attendee handouts for use at the event, and the curriculum for six-week follow-up groups. We also provide ongoing support to your team, as needed!
